International Women’s Day: The “Give to Gain” Statement

To commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026, FOSDA released a strategic advocacy statement centered on the theme “Give to Gain.” The core of this message is a call for a fundamental shift in how security is managed in West Africa—moving away from symbolic gender inclusion toward actual structural investment in women’s leadership. The statement highlights that the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda remains under-resourced despite its proven effectiveness in stabilizing communities. FOSDA is pushing for dedicated budget allocations to support grassroots female peacebuilders and to ensure that women are represented at high-level security negotiation tables. This is not just a matter of equity, but a strategic necessity for sustainable regional peace. Mentoring Future Leaders at Mount Zion Basic School

In early March 2026, FOSDA joined forces with the National Peace Council  to visit Mount Zion Basic School for a dedicated mentorship session. This  initiative was designed to plant the seeds of peacebuilding and leadership  agency among young female students. During the event, mentors discussed the  importance of community leadership and the role that young people can play in  resolving local conflicts. By engaging with students at the basic school level,  FOSDA aims to inspire a new generation of women who see themselves as capable  leaders in the security and peace sectors. The session served as a practical  application of our broader advocacy for women’s leadership, showing that  leadership skills must be nurtured from a young age to create a more resilient  society. FOSDA Participates in Youth Constitutional Reform Dialogue

Throughout March 2026, FOSDA hosted an intensive two-day dialogue in  Koforidua focused on the future of Ghana’s democratic governance. This  engagement brought together the CSO Youth Chapter to critically review the 1992  Constitution and the previous recommendations made by the Constitution Review  Committee (CRC). The dialogue emphasized that for Ghana’s democracy to remain  stable and relevant, the youth must have a structural role in decision-making  and security sector accountability. Participants explored how decentralization  and early-warning mechanisms can be legally strengthened to prevent  election-related violence and social unrest. By empowering young leaders with a  deep understanding of constitutional reform, FOSDA aims to ensure that the next  generation isn’t just a bystander in governance but a primary architect of  national stability. VIOLENT INCIDENT REPORT: 1st QTR, 2026 Report

FOSDA’s National Media Monitoring Center released its latest statistical update in March 2026, offering a data-driven look at the security landscape across Ghana. The report identified 69 violent incidents in the preceding month, with a notable concentration of activity in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Central regions. The monitoring categorized these incidents into physical, economic, and gun-related violence, providing security agencies and researchers with a clear map of national “hotspots.” This ongoing data collection is a cornerstone of FOSDA’s “Watchdog” role, providing the evidence needed to advocate for early-warning systems and more effective community policing. Understanding these trends is the first step in preventing the escalation of social tensions into full-scale communal conflict.
