The Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions co-lead the violent incidents count with 37 (21.8%) incidents each. Together they account for a total of 74 cases translating to 44% of total incidents for the reporting period. In second position is the Central Region with 19 (11%) incidents. Eastern Region follows with 18 (10.6%) incidents and Western North Region 12 incidents accounting for 7%. The remaining 11 regions recorded single digit incident between 8 and 1. All the 16 regions recorded a violent incident according to the media.


At the zonal level, the Middle regions (Ashanti, Eastern, Oti, Western North, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo) recorded the highest counts with 77 incidents representing 45%. The Coastal zone regions (Western, Central, Greater Accra and Volta) followed with 69 incidents representing 41%. The Northern regions (Upper East, Upper West, North East, Savannah and Northern) contributed 24 incidents representing 14%.


One Hundred and Forty-one (141) injuries and Seventy-Seven (7) deaths were recorded. From the injury record, 68 men representing 48% were affected compared to 15 (11%) children and 12 women representing 9%. Unspecified category of injuries was 46 (33%). Similarly, from the deaths record, 44 men representing 57% were counted to have died. Women who were recorded to have died were 15 representing 19% and nine
(12) children representing 16% were recorded to have also died. Unspecified deaths amounted to 6 representing 8%. The monitoring shows that, violent incidents continue to affect more men than women and children combined
