From FOSDA’s 3rd quarter 2025 monitoring of violent incidents in Ghana, the number of violent incidents tracked totaled Two Hundred and Twenty-Seven (227). This is a 50.3% increase compared to the 151 incidents recorded in the 2nd quarter of 2025. It also represents an increase by 119 cases (110%) in comparison to the 1st qtr. of 2025.
The overall breakdown of cases monitored during the current period includes:
1. Physical Violence – 100 cases, representing 44.1%
2. Gun Violence – 84 cases, representing 37%
3. Economic Violence – 13 cases, representing 5.7%
4. Social Violence – 11 cases, representing 5%
5. Political Violence – 10 representing 4%
6. Sexual Violence – 6 cases representing 2.6%
7. Psychological Violence—3 cases representing 1%
For the third time in 2025 Greater Accra Region leads the violent incidents count with 43 (18.9%) reported incidents. Ashanti Region follows with 41 (18.1%) incidents. In third position is the Eastern Region following with 36 (15.9%) incidents. Central Region recorded 24 (10.6%) incidents and Western region 13 incidents accounting for 5.7%. The remaining 10 regions recorded single digit incident between 9 and 3. All the 16 regions recorded an incident.
