From 17 to 18 September 2026, FOSDA is participating as an observer in the second sitting of the 8th East African Youth Parliament (EAYP), taking place in Arusha, Tanzania.The participation provides FOSDA with an opportunity to gain first-hand insights into an established regional youth parliament model, including its structures, mechanisms for youth representation and deliberation, thematic engagement, and relationship with regional institutions. This learning opportunity comes at an important moment for FOSDA and its partners in West Africa as they advance discussions on the establishment of an ECOWAS Youth Parliament. Through observation, engagement with EAYP organizers, youth delegates and regional stakeholders, FOSDA will draw lessons and experiences that can contribute to ongoing efforts to shape a meaningful, inclusive and context-responsive platform for youth participation in regional governance in West Africa.
