Accra, March 05 2026 – The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) joined the National Peace Council (NPC) to commemorate International Women’s Day (#IWD2026) with the students of Mount Zion Basic School.
The engagement, held under the NPC’s inspiring theme, “Raising Young Peacebuilders: Her Voice, Her Power,” focused on nurturing leadership and agency among the next generation. Ms. Dorothy Barnes, FOSDA’s WPS Project Coordinator, delivered partner remarks that bridged the local theme with the global #GivetoGain campaign.
During her address, Ms. Barnes emphasized that peace is a collective gain. She encouraged the students to actively “give” support and encouragement to their female peers, noting that such small acts of solidarity help young women “gain” the confidence required to lead and give back to their communities and the nation.
FOSDA commends the National Peace Council for its leadership in creating these essential grassroots spaces for dialogue. Such initiatives are critical for advancing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda by instilling the values of equality and peacebuilding in future leaders from an early age
