The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey on her recent appointment as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
FOSDA is assured that Hon. Dr. Lartey brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having served as an assemblywoman and as the Member of Parliament for the Krowor Constituency. We are confident that her background, working in vital roles with various national and international organizations such as ECOWAS as expert on children’s issues, and as the first female General Secretary of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), has equipped her with the necessary skills to advance the agenda for gender equality, social justice and inclusion in Ghana.
FOSDA encourages Hon. Dr. Lartey to prioritize the effective implementation Ghana’s National Action Plan (GHANAP 2) on United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 which also finds expression in the Affirmative Action Law. The GHANAP 2 expires this year 2025. The Ministry of Gender must strengthen its coordination role and lead the process to review and develop a new National Action Plan.
As Hon. Dr. Lartey embarks on this critical journey, FOSDA reaffirms its commitment to supporting her initiatives and collaborating with the Ministry to foster a more inclusive and equitable society in Ghana.
Congratulations once again, Hon. Minister, on this remarkable achievement as you lead efforts toward a brighter future for all Ghanaians.
