The second Ghana National Action Plan on Women Peace and Security (GHANAP-2),
is the national strategy document which outlines the approach and course of action for
local implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda. As the plan
gradually reaches its expiry in December 2025, financing remains a major challenge as
identified by the plan itself and other related studies. This notwithstanding, there is
currently no information on exactly how much funding is needed to finance the plan or
better inform financing commitments overtime. This policy paper provides some estimates
of the cost of financing the WPS agenda annually and over the medium term to serve as a
baseline for dialogue and policy review.
The purpose for this brief is to provide information for stakeholder consideration to help
support GHANAP-2 implementation for 2025 as well as set the stage for dialogue on WPS
