On this International Youth Day (IYD) 2025, the Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) proudly celebrates the energy, creativity, and leadership of Ghana’s youth and young people across the continent especially those who are contributing to shaping the future with courage.
This year’s theme, Local Youth Action for the SDGs and Beyond, is a reminder that sustainable development begins at home mostly in our communities, our neighbourhoods, and our local institutions. Across Ghana, young people are not waiting for change they are creating it. From the DAAKYE Fellows who are driving change in their communities; the Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition (GYMC) who are monitoring Policies; the Regional Youth Networks, National Network of Youth Groups (NNYOG) and the West Africa Youth Alliance who have been instrumental actors in driving bold solutions to the challenges we face.
At FOSDA, we have seen firsthand how youth-led initiatives are influencing national and regional level policies, transforming lives and strengthening democratic governance. Through advocacy for Constitutional reforms, Gender Transformative Education (GTE), Campaign for the ECOWAS Youth Parliament, or grassroots campaigns for social justice, Ghana’s youth are proving that they are the changemakers of today and leaders of tomorrow.
To every youth in Ghana and Africa your voice matters. Your ideas matter. Your leadership matters.
FOSDA stands with you in your pursuit of a fairer and more peaceful Ghana and Africa. Together, let us build a future rooted in justice, inclusion, and sustainability.
