On 27th September 2024, FOSDA represented by Ms. Dorothy Barnes, WPS Program Officer attended the launch of the Ghana Immigration Service PSEAH policy at the Coconut Groove Hotel in Accra.

This significant milestone marked by Immigration Service underscores the Service’s commitment to protecting their workplace and empowering their people.

During the launch, the Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi highlighted that the PSEAH policy was intended to  foster a safe inclusive and respectful service (workplace) as well as to foster a culture of dignity, empathy and respect.

This indeed is a commendable step to preventing sexual and gender based violence as well as in protecting the human rights of all those the policy serves including officers, civilian workers and migrants.

As FOSDA, we would like to encourage the the Service to properly implement this policy for the sake of all who may feel or be abused, harassed and exploited whether male or female.

This policy is aligned with the Women, Peace and Security agenda and is nestled within the Ghana National Action Plan on UNSCR 1325 (GHANAP 2).

According to the lead consultant of the PSEAH policy, Rev. Dr. Angela Dwamena Aboagye, this policy is a homegrown policy that was developed especially because of the active participation of staff members of the Service. Therefore, owning this policy means zero tolerance by everyone for sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment
