The Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition has engaged the main opposition party in Ghana to present the “Ghana Youth Manifesto for Election 2024 and Beyond”. The Manifesto Committee Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo received the Ghana Youth Manifesto (GYM) on behalf of the main opposition party. Mr Anthony Caid a member of the Ghana Youth Manifesto and Youth Core Team member presented a copy of the Manifesto and Survey Report to Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo at the African Centre for Governance and Economic (ACGEM) in Accra on 1st March 2024.

The presentation of the Ghana Youth Manifesto to the NDC Manifesto Chairman was to enable the Party to consider some key issues, affecting the Ghanaian Youth for incorporation in its Manifesto for the 2024 general election.
The Ghana Youth Manifesto (GYM) is a highlight of a collaborative effort by diverse youth organisations, groups, networks, and associations of the country to articulate a youth focused development vision. The Ghana Youth Manifesto represents the aspirations, needs, and concerns of young Ghanaians and outlines a roadmap for achieving a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous nation.

Mr Christopher Wisdom Penu (GYM Coordinator) in a presentation indicated that the Ghana Youth Manifesto for 2024 election general election and beyond report assessed the views of over 3,500 young people who participated in a survey in all the 16 regions of Ghana to share their views on key national and youth development issues.
He said it captured their perspectives and priorities for the next government, including its first 100 days in power post the 2024 general elections. He reiterated that it also covered six other key areas of interest to young people, including: Education, Employment, Health and Sexual Reproductive Rights, Good Governance, Youth with Disability, and Youth Peace and Security.
Mr Penu urged the NDC to consider incorporating part or all of the 43 proposals of GYM into their manifesto ahead of 2024 election.

Professor Danso, receiving the Manifesto and Survey Report, lauded the activism of the Youth Core group. He noted that the NDC’s Manifesto Committee will study the contents carefully and meticulously and adapt the proposals that are both critical that feasible.

The meeting with the NDC Manifesto Committee Chairman is part of the Political Parties Engagement under the Ghana Youth Manifesto project. It is intended to get youth issues prioritized in national development discourse.
