The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) with funding support from Plan International through Global Affairs Canada have successfully brought stakeholders together for an interface meeting. The aim of this was to share some reports on the monitoring GHANAP 2 project. It was also to discuss the findings from engagements with various institutions listed within Category A and B of the National Action Plan.

During this meeting, FOSDA shared information on the implementation so far from the data gathered from five institutions out of the eight in Category A and B of the stakeholder analysis. This exercise happens to be the first phase of the monitoring GHANAP 2 project.

The meeting entailed a presentation on the analysis and outcomes of the monitoring exercise so far including the findings. A group discussion also presented FOSDA the opportunity to share and to draw out some recommendations from those present in order to effectively execute the Action Plan.

Other outcomes of the meeting include renewed commitments from stakeholders to implement the GHANAP 2 as well as deepened relations for advancing the NAP.

Some institutions present were the MoGCSP, Ministry of the Interior, NPC, Immigration Service, Fire Service, Prisons Service, Ghana Armed Forces, UNDP, KAIPTC, WGWYPS, NCCRM, and WILPF.

The ‘Monitoring GHANAP 2 project’ is designed to ensure that Ghana, through all key stakeholders, significantly implement the current action plan on UNSCR 1325 and achieve the target results to ultimately improve the participation of Women in the Peace and Security Sector.

This project also falls in line with the Women’s Voice and Leadership (WVL) project that recognises women as key agents in ensuring a peaceful inclusive and secured environment for all especially women and girls.
